Kumasi, June 17, GNA - The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has been presented with assorted items worth GH¢ 10,000.00 in support of children on admission at the facility.

These included toys, bags of rice, weighing scales, toilet roll, soap and detergents, biscuits, and fruit drinks.

They were a donation from the Women's Fellowship and Pastors' Wives of the Ashanti East Territory of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

Mrs. Regina Ohene Frimpong, President of the Fellowship, said it was their contribution towards efforts at bringing some comfort to the children.

She pointed out that as Christian mothers, they were concerned about the welfare and health of children and therefore the decision to visit the hospital on the occasion of their anniversary celebration.

They prayed for the speedy recovery of the sick children and asked for God's guidance and good health for the doctors, nurses and other health professionals so that they could give quality care to them.

Professor Emmanuel Addo-Yobo, Head of the Child Health Directorate of the Hospital, said they were grateful for the gesture.

Such donations from the public, he said, had been vital for the care of poor and needy patients, whose parents found it difficult to pay their medical bills.

He mentioned inadequate space, incubators and ultrasound machines, as major challenges at the children wards and invited individuals and organization to help deal with these.
