Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, a missionary church in the USA which supports over 40 missions and missionaries across the globe, has commissioned $ 40,000 State-of-the-Art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory, and a Library for the Bonkrong D/A JHS in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region, constructed by the institution.

The project which, according to the Church is their pledge to succour the standard of education in the Bonkrong community was commissioned last Friday.

The head of the delegation of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Malinda James, who flew into the country last week Monday in the company of Dr. Yussif Mijirah Dokurugu and other officials, indicated that the provision of facility is to improve community relations between the community and donor partners as well as build potentials in the community.

She avouched that, the Church which is known globally for its charity works, will work in tandem with community leaders in Bonkrong to build students to become relevant individuals in society.

She also expressed confidence that the facility, which is christened 'Dr. Eva Wanton Library and Computer Laboratory' in honour of Dr. Eva Wanton who passed on during the construction of the project will serve its purpose to the people.

The Nsutamanhene, Nana Adu Bonsafo III who welcomed Dr. Malinda and her entourage to the community, could not hide his excitement over the provision of the facility. He noted that it is in the interest of stakeholders in educational sector in upgrading public schools to meet the standard of private institutions, thus, the gesture by the Church to the community.

He said, equipping schools with modern facilities including an ICT laboratory will add to the knowledge base of the students and widen their scope in achieving more academically.

Nana Adu Bonsafo III expressed appreciation to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for making the facility possible and charged students to use the facility judiciously so as to inure to their benefit.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Central, Honourable Akuoko Frimpong pledged the assembly’s resolve to ensure security for the facility in the Bonkrong D/A JHS and urged the community not to show apathy towards the facility.

Members of the delegations were each presented with Kente cloth by the community.
