The world over, it is in Europe that we have many influential soccer coaches and football managers. Though publicity plays a part in this, some of the coaches are just exceptional. Of all the coaches, the Portuguese José Maurinho seems to be more popular, controversial and influential worldwide. It is true that giants in the field like Sir Alex Fergusson has led Manchester United to win many valuable trophies in the past and Arsène Wenger of Arsenal FC who has a good staying power in his club is also a good coach.

We also have Luis Enrique of FC Barcelona, Josep Guardiola of FC Bayern München, Jürgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund of Roger Schmidt (Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Manuel Pellegrini of Manchester City FC, Filippo Inzaghi of AC Milan, Míchel of Olympiacos FC, Carlo Ancelotti and later Zinedine Zidan of Real Madrid CF who are doing their bit to promote soccer ,yet they are all yet to catch up with José Maurinho’s pedigree.

It is not for nothing that this man is growing in popularity. He is a shrewd trainer and business minded person who knows how to poach players and build a winsome team wherever he went to train footballers. He gained support of the players, managers and the huge supporters all over the world.

For example Because he used Michael Essien and Mikel Obi and Diddie Drogber football followers in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria loved Chelsea and therefore became fans of Maurinho for the job he performed . When he moved as a coach to real Madrid , inter Milan he did not only recruit African players he went over from Europe to Brazil, Argentina, Japan and other parts of the world to look for quality players.

Many observers of the soccer scene have come to realize that Maurinho has so far succeeded in uniting the world behind him and in so doing getting soccer followers all over the world to live and interact with in harmony with one another.

His latest movement to the Manchester United to pursue his own style and the legacy left by Sir Alex Fergusson seems to seal it all for him. That team was one the leading team in Britain and Europe and the whole wide world which is currently not performing well enough in the English league. Maurinho has been appointed and given the opportunity to bring Manchester United back to its position and glory as the leading team in England and Europe .

He will surely use his strategy and style to recruit crack players worldwide for his new team. It is only hoped that he will succeed. Whatever happens he is likely to pull many soccer fans on the fringes of other teams to move over to Manchester united. It is believed that most of the opposing fans to Manchester United from his previous teams would not be hard on united because of Maurinho.

José Mourinho whose full name is José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix was born on 26th January 1963. He was a football player before he became a football manager.

He is regarded by a number of players, coaches, and commentators as one of the greatest and most successful managers in the world.. In 2015 Mourinho was named the best Portuguese coach of the century by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). Mourinho began his involvement in professional football as a player in the Portuguese Second Division.

He studied Sports Science in Technical University of Lisbon and attended coaching courses in Britain. In Lisbon, he worked as a physical education teacher and had spells working as a youth team coach, a scout, and an assistant manager. In the early 1990s, he became an interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson at sporting and Porto in Portugal, and Barcelona in Spain. He remained at the Catalonian club working with Robson's successor Luis Van Gaal.

Mourinho impressed with brief but successful managerial periods at Benfica and Uniao de Leiria taking the latter to their highest ever league finish. He returned to Porto in early 2002 as head coach, winning the Primeira Liga, Taca de Portugal and UEFA cup in 2003. In the next season, Mourinho guided the team to victory in the Supertaca Candido de Oliviera, to the top of the league for a second time, and won the highest honor in European club football, the UEFA Champions League.

Mourinho moved to Chelsea the following year and won the Premier League title with a record 95 points, the club's first league title in 50 years, and the League cup in his first season. In his second year, Chelsea retained the Premier League and in 2006–07 he took the club to an FA Cup and League Cup double. Mourinho left Chelsea in September 2007, amidst reports of a rift with club owner Roman Abramovich

In 2008, Mourinho moved to Serie A club Internationale. Within three months he had won his first Italian honor the Supercoppa Italiana, and completed the season by winning the Serie A. In 2009–10, Inter became the first Italian club to win the treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League, also the first time Inter had won the latter competition since 1965. He is one of only five coaches to have won the European Cup with two different teams, along with Ernst Happel, Ottmar Hitfeld, Jupp Heynkkes, and Carlo Ancelotti.

He won the first ever FIFA World Coach of the year Award in 2010. He then signed with Real Madrid in 2010, winning the Copa del Rey in his first season. The following year, he won the La Liga and became the fifth coach, after Tomislav Ivic, Ernst Happel, Giovanni Trapattoni and Eric Gerets, to have won league titles in at least four different countries: Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.

After leaving Madrid in June 2013, Mourinho returned to England to manage Chelsea for a second spell, during which they won another league championship, but this came to an end on 17 December 2015, after a poor run of results left Chelsea just outside the relegation zone. [11] Following several months out of the game after losing his job at Chelsea for the second time, Mourinho was confirmed as the new manager of Manchester United on 27 May 2016. [1]

Because of his tactical knowledge, charismatic (but also very controversial) personality and what his opponents regard as emphasis on getting results over playing beautiful football, he is often seen, by both admirers and critics, as the successor of Argentine manager Helenio Herrera
