The Ntiamoah Foundation has spent over Ghc2000,000 in providing free scholarships and health facilities in Ghana particularly in its catchment areas in the Eastern Region.

The Founder, Mr. Robert Kwaku Appiah Asante said, the Foundation, since its inception in 2006 with an endowment fund of US$500,000 dollars from his personal contribution, has dispensed over GHc2000,000 in providing of free education and health facilities in the country.

He said this at the launch to announce the activities to mark its 10th anniversary celebration under the theme, “A Decade of Sustainable Humanitarian Services.”

Mr. Robert Kwaku Appiah Asante noted that the Foundation and Newmont have closely been working together to improve the social wellbeing of citizens in areas such as Afosu, New Abirem, Mamanso, Old Abirem, Yayaso, Adausena, Hweakwae, Yaw Tano, Ntronang, Abohema Nos 1 and 2 and Nkwarteng and places within the operational fields of Newmont Akyem Mines.

According to him, the Foundation has provided free scholarships to 105 students from the Senior High Schools [SHS] into universities and training colleges in and outside the country.

He mentioned that, a medical doctor, who benefited from the scholarship from the SHS level is pursuing a specialist training course at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is also a Board Member of the Ntiamoah Foundation.

Mr. Appiah Asante, who doubles as the Chairman of Ntiamoah Foundation indicated that the Foundation has expanded infrastructure and distributed over 100 dual desks to both primaries schools and Junior High Schools [JHS].

He added that the Foundation has establishment an ICT Centre with 40 personal computers and instructors at New Abirem Akwadum D/A Model School.

In promoting and expanding pre-school (kindergarten) education in the catchment area, he stated that Ntiamoah Foundation has donated teaching/Learning materials such as 15 Wooden Educational games, 15 Wooden puzzles, 3 Wooden Pack Letters, 80 laminated wall charts, 160 / learn to Read Books 1&2, 50 Language Activity Books 1&2, 78 Kindergarten English books, 160 I Learn to Count Books 1&2 and 21 Ideal Mathematics Books to selected Kindergartens.

The Founder indicated that efforts have been made to support the Circuit Supervisors with items that will enable them undertake proper management and effective supervision in the Districts.

Providing health services to deprived communities

Mr. Robert K.A. Asante emphasised that the Foundation has made several donations of medical/surgical apparatus/materials and Medicines; Periodic supply of foreign medical personnel and organisation of outreach programmes to deprived communities in the catchment areas.

According to him, the Foundation has donated an Ambulance to the Ministry of health for the New Abirem Government Hospital.

He added that several items including Nurses dresses, Magazine shelf, supply cart, lamps and chairs, light surgical equipment and materials, medicines (various), Hospital Beds, Birthing Beds and Bed sheets, Hospital Trolleys, Paediatric Wheelchair, Stretchers and Operation Tables.

Mr. Robert K.A. Asante emphasised that Ntiamoah Foundation paid for the registration of 1344 needy people from 52 communities in the Birim North and Akyimansa Districts to enable them benefit from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

“Also Ntiamoah Foundation has supported the Birim North District Health Directorate in carrying out outreach programs through the supply of DVDs, Televisions and personal computers,” he stated.

The Founder noted that in collaboration with the Ghana Hope Foundation (USA) and the Willamette Valley Medical Centre of USA, the Foundation continues to provide free surgery and medical care to residents in and outside of its catchment areas.

Mr. Robert K.A. Asante mentioned that the Foundation extended its benevolence to Kibi Livestock Project which is aimed at training and equipping visually impaired persons in livestock production to provide them with a source of income.

According to him, the project, which is currently under the management of the Ghana Blind Union was inaugurated by Ntiamoah Foundation with a financial input of GHC 30,000.

He calls on local and international benevolent organisations to join efforts in changing lives and transforming societies in the country.
