UK’s Trade Envoy to Ghana, MP Adam Afriyie was the special guest of honour at the 2nd edition of the GUBA Greenwich Expo which was a successful collaboration of entrepreneurship, promotion of trade and a unification of Africa and the UK. The 3 day expo which took place over the weekend from Friday 20th of May to Sunday 22nd of May 2016, operated under the theme of 'promoting African businesses in the UK'

During his speech at the seminar, Mr Afriyie said: "It is imperative that we collaborate in business as this guarantees success for all economies involved, “The way forward for our two countries is to work together to provide an environment that enables businesses to thrive”, he added. The Ghana Deputy Minister for Tourism Arts Culture, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie was also in attendance and she praised the efforts of GUBA in helping to bring Ghana made products to the forefront of the British mainstream markets.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK - HE Victor Smith shared sentiments about the expo, expressing "the High Commission is proud to be part of this event and will continue to support bodies like GUBA in organising such events to enhance our market access and promotion of Made in Ghana products."

The event host Sonia Meggie, CEO of Inspirational You introduced Mavis Amankwah CEO of Rich Visions who moderated a panel consisting of Simon Derrick (Blue Skies), Gillian Boateng (Gdesserts), Sam and John Mensah (Uncle John's Bakery), Afriyie Donkor (The Brand Pantry), Rosie Ackester (The Body Shop) and Christina Daniels (ASOS Market Place), on the effective ways to get products into retail outlets.

Sharon Ganney, Robert Ashton, Councillor Sunny Lambe, Eryca Freemantle, Franklin Boateng, Nana Ampofo, Kubi Springer, Andrea Opoku and others took part in the various workshops and seminars on the importance of branding, international trading, customer service, online presence and social media were addressed in front of a gathering of attendees, exhibitioners and buyers

Saturday the 21st was a vibrant day for sales and networking. The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich Norman Adams, viewed the items on display by the exhibitioners, commending them on their uniqueness and product presentation: "I am impressed by the quality ajd affordability of the products on display. The GUBA Expo is an amazing platform for business" - he added.

Gordon Square, Woolwich, was the venue for the final day of the GUBA Expo. An open market display of the various products and services missed with traditional Ghanaian entertainment. The 'One Drum' cultural troupe put on an entertaining dancing and acrobat display, drawing in the public interest and booming sales.
