Teshie (GAR), May 24, GNA - Mr Seth Badu Tawiah, the Ledzokuku-Krowo Municipal Chief Executive, has cautioned residents of Teshie who used the beach as their place of convenience to stop the practice.

He said any person found flouting the warning would be fined by the Assembly.

He asked residents who did not have toilets in their homes to use the public toilets instead of using the seashore as their place of convenience.

Mr Tawiah gave the warning when the Teshie Traditional Council and members of the community undertook a cleanup exercise at the Teshie Landing Beach.

He said last year 25 persons were arrested and prosecuted and that the Assembly would put on high premium its sanitary condition surveillance to ensure a clean environment at all times.

Mr Tawiah called on the citizens to change their attitude towards the environment to avoid the spread of cholera and malaria among other diseases.

'We need to begin working towards creating a modern livable city as enshrined in the vision of the Assembly,' he said.

Mr Tawiah said the Assembly would provide refuse containers at the landing beach and urged residents to use those containers and stop dumping refuse indiscriminately.

Nii Ashikwei Kwaobotswe II, a Kingmaker of Teshie, asked the citizens to keep their surroundings clean alt the time and must not wait till the National Sanitation Day before they did so.

Gbetsↄↄlↄ Nii Ashitey Akomfra III, the Teshie Mantse, who led the exercise, expressed gratitude to the people for actively participating and urged them to sustain it.
