Tema, May 23, GNA - Reverend Jonas Kwame Cosmos Kuma Tengey, the retired Greater Accra Regional Pastor of The Great Commission Church International (GCCI), has advised pastors not to be concerned with the affairs of the world.

He stressed:'My advice to younger ministers is that the minister of God must not concern with the affairs of this world; so that he may please the one who has called,' he stated.

Rev Tengey was speaking at a send-off service in his honour, after 40 years of pastoral service to the church.

Rev Tengey expressed gratitude to the leadership of GCCI, especially Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, the Chairman of GCCI Apostolic Council who discipled and mentored him; for giving him the platform to serve God.

He expressed gratitude to his wife, Mama Vivian and their children, Dr Sam, Simon, Elorm, Vilanya, Mayoe, Blessed and Masuboe for their support and care during his career.

The service brought together congregants from the five branches of the Tema District of the GCCI, namely Grace Temple, Maranatha, Tema Community Five, Tema Newtown and Prampram Assembles, as well as representatives from all branches of the church in Ghana.

Among the seasoned men of God who graced the occasion were, Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong, the Chairman, GCCI Ghana Executive Council, Joseph Kwabena Antwi, former Chairman, GCCI Ghana Executive Council, Komla Ebenezer Hagan and Samuel Vincent Ansah; both Members of GCCI Apostolic Council.

The rest are Apostle Richard Kwami Adanu, the First Vice Chairman, GCCI Ghana Executive Council in-charge of Missions and Rev Godson Gbloe, the Second Vice Chairman, GCCI Ghana Executive Council in-charge of Finance and Administration.

Apostle Prof Asuming-Brempong in his homily hailed Rev Tengey for the huge sacrifices he made in the Lord's vineyard as a minister in the planting and pastoring of churches for the last 40 years.

He said although Rev Tengey is now on legal retirement he is not on spiritual retirement, and that his services are still needed by the body of Christ.

Speaking on the topic: 'The Alternative Voice,' Apostle Asuming-Brempong urged Christians to learn how to distinguish the voice of God from other voices in the world.

'If you faithfully and truly follow and obey the voice of God; He will surely bring you to an expected end,' he stated.

He explained that the inability of King Saul in the bible to whole heartedly follow the voice of God led to his down fall.

Apostle Mensah said the love of God in Rev Tengey made him never to look back in his journey with Christ.

He said Rev Tengey's life was a demonstration of how God in His own wisdom, unfolds the destiny of a man.

Apostle Mensah praised Rev Tengey for his vigorous evangelism drive in the ministry, through which he was involved in a tragic accident which nearly sent him to his untimely grave.

He declared that 'Rev Tengey is a gift of God to the church'.

Rev Dr Florence Vida Adri of the Assemblies of God Church, the Berean Assembly, Ogbojo - Madina said it is important to celebrate men and women, who have made positive impacts in the society while they are still living.

Rev Tengey was ordained as a pastor on September 27, 1982 in Tema, and subsequently posted to Kpando as a District Pastor. There he was able to plant satellite assemblies at Kpando, Fesi, Bame Torkor and Agbenohoe.

During his ministry, aside pastoring, Ho and Ashaiman, Rev Tengey was an Assistant Volta Regional Pastor from 1987 to 1991, Volta Regional Pastor from 1991 to 2003, GCCI Ghana Executive Council Member and the Director of Evangelism from 1998 to 2008, the Director of Church Life from 2003 to 2013, Tema District Pastor 2003 to 2013 and the Greater Accra Regional Pastor from 2003 to 2016.
