Essikado, May 20, GNA - Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, Second Lady, has promised the delivery of more than one million baby kits to pregnant women across the country.

This is because; rural women in particular have failed to access ante-natal health care services due to the tall list of requirement for delivery in maternity homes and the hospitals, which to them is unaffordable.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur said this during the official handing over of the newly built Essikado Maternity Block to the Essikado Hospital in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis to assist in quality healthcare delivery in the area of maternal health.

The maternity block, built by Tullow Oil, major operators in the Jubilee oil field in partnership with Project Cure, a US based NGO is equipped with the necessary facilities to make it fully functional.

The Second Lady lauded the efforts of the jubilee oil field operators and called on other corporate bodies to partner government in raising the standard of lives of Ghanaians.

Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Omanhene of the Essikado, expressed gratitude to Tullow Ghana for the immense contribution towards the well-being of expectant mothers in the community and adjoining towns.

He said: 'This old facility has always being a market place for ante-natal and post-natal mothers and that is why I will commend Tullow Ghana and their US based partner for this great benevolence.'

Nana Kobina Nketsia V, named the facilities after one of the King makers in the area: 'Nana Esuon' Maternity block.
