Ghana Youth For Development And Accountability(gyoda) Cautioned Ghanaians To Consider Policies And Action Plan Against Lies

08.05.2016 LISTEN
By Miracle Eric

Friends of the media, leaders and flag bearers of the various political parties, fellow country men and women , ladies and gentlemen. As the November 7 presidential and parliamentary elections is drawing closer, we deem it necessary to inform the good people of Ghana about certain developments that continue to sink this nation over the years. If we all sit unconcern, we may be forced into modern slavery and abject poverty.

Fellow Ghanaians, Ghana is undoubtedly blessed with Gold, timber, rich Agricultural land, bauxite, and currently oil. The question is, why do we keep borrowing as a nation? Our founding father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, once said, " the black man is capable of managing his own affairs". Does this statement hold today?

We keep exhausting our natural resources , no investment in renewable energy, our population keeps increasing with little investment in infrastructure to sustain the populace. Ghana depends heavily on importation and exports little ,major export being Cocoa. No industrialisation, poor environment for business growth and investment. What comes to mind is , do we think about the future at all? Do our leaders have any policy at all?

Upon several analysis, GYODA observed that, the political environment of our nation is a big disgrace and great shame to national growth and development. The politics in Ghana is baseless and unfounded. Full of personal attacks, vendetta , name calling, and story telling . Politicians go to radio stations and insult each other , doing useless comparisons which has no interplay and trying to justify their failure by comparing figures of previous governments.

These we realised diverts the attention of both the government in power and the people to frivolous subjects at the expense of credible policies and tentative action plans as well as steps in achieving these policies to inure to the benefit of the people Ghana. We are pleading with Ghanaians to frown at lies and personal attacks and demand policies and ways to achieve these policies during the presidential and constituency campaigns. Let us study the manifestos dispassionately. We plead with the media to discuss the manifestos meticulously and allow the citizenry to call in and contribute in case of radio and TV stations.

These we believe will put the various parties on their toes and also aid the voter to vote wisely.

We also promise to draw our dagger against party communicators and media houses that seeks to resort to propaganda to win this years election .

Ghanaians are not ready for any propaganda, we want development, accountability and above all , visible, social and economic policies. We wish all aspirants the best and advise every citizen and group to desist from any despicable act that has the potency of causing Huggermugger.

We are one people, we have one nation and we have one rich culture Peace to u all.
