Tamale, May 06, GNA - Agromite Limited, an agricultural service delivery company, has signaled its readiness to avail its wide range of services including improved ploughing, harrowing and planting to smallholder and commercial farmers across the country at cheaper costs for improved agricultural productivity.

Dr Henry Anim-Somuah, Director of Agromite Limited said the company which had hitherto provided services to only donor funded projects, was shifting focus in that direction to aid agricultural productivity.

At a public exhibition to showcase Agromite's machinery for commercial agricultural productivity in Tamale on Thursday, Dr Anim-Somuah said the company had reduced its cost of services to ensure that the smallholder farmer benefited from the process.

He explained that the evenness to the soil surface had a significant impact on the germination of crops and said Agromite's equipment offers a more convenient and easier options for land leveling than the traditional means of smoothing out the land which was very cumbersome and expensive.

Dr Anim-Somuah indicated that the company had different equipment available including tractors, ploughing machinery and planting equipment that would make farming an attractive adventure for commercial production and urged interested farmers to liaise with the Company for mutual benefits.

Dr Alhassan Yakubu, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture lauded the initiative of Agromite explaining that it had a track record in service delivery to ensure positive yield to farmers.

Agromite' service has mainly been in the delivery of ploughing, harrowing, levelling and transplanting services in cereals including maize, rice and groundnut.
