Kumasi, May 06, GNA - The Adansi South Parliamentary Candidate of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mrs. Grace Lovia Adjei, has pledged to do everything to support the growth of small-scale and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the constituency if elected.

She said that was the way to lift people out of poverty and fight the rising unemployment among the youth in the area.

Mrs. Adjei, a tutor at the Prempeh College, was sharing her development vision for the constituency at a news conference in Kumasi.

She would work closely with the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) and the financial institutions to provide funding and build the capacity of the SMEs.

They would be assisted to adopt best business practices to expand their operations.

Again, she said, more energy and effort would be focused on helping women to go into income generation activities to boost family incomes.

Mrs. Adjei promised to lead a crusade to check the poor academic performance of schools, noting that, education was a vital tool for empowering people with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence to actively contribute to the development of their community.

She would provide the right leadership to bring progress and transform the lives of her constituents and appealed to the voters to trust her and the UPP with their votes.

She called for political tolerance and healthy political debate to remove needless tension and prevent confusion ahead of the polls.
