One of two men who was allegedly assaulted by the Ashanti Region Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, says he is still nursing severe wounds from the attack.

Felix Ibrahim, NPP Manhyia North Constituency Secretary, told the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Thursday he may need surgery for some of the injuries he suffered after the attack.

“He jumped straight on to me and started beating me,” he narrated, denying knowledge of what could have caused his colleague NPP supporter to assault him.

Felix Ibrahim says he would later learn from friends that an assault on an aide of Chairman Wontumi was wrongly blamed him by his fellow party supporter.

“I didn’t even hear of the matter until Sunday that I was assaulted”, he said.

Meanwhile, he says doctors say he may need surgery to remedy some of the injuries caused by the assault.

"I am really hurt. They say there is complication on my waist so I have to come to Korle Bu and if there is the need for surgery, they will do it," he said.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako allegedly slapped MP for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah, and Felix Ibrahim last Sunday.

The incident is said to have occurred at a registration centre in the same constituency during the limited voter registration exercise.

Mr Boasiako handed himself to the police on Monday after being declared wanted, and was detained in police custody for a day. He has been charged with assaulting a public officer and has been released on bail.

Mr Ibrahim and Owusu-Amankwah have initiated a process to withdraw the case from the police and settle it within the party.
