Is It A Deliberate Attempt By The EC To Disenfranchise Ghanaians?

I have been thinking about the requirements needed for the voter's registration for some time now most especially the first three requirements thus;

1. Passport
2. Driver's license
3. National ID.

It's pitiful the kind of country we live in during this 21st century. A country where priorities have been misplaced. A lost country which has little or no interest in important issues. All these three requirements are very difficult to come by in this age and time and b this has become a problem for new registration despite the option of presenting two people who has the voter's ID as referees. Few people have little time to spare in this harsh economy and this has made it very difficult to get referees to help them register. Besides, sometimes these referees are put through series of interrogation before they are allowed to and this has discouraged most.

The Government of Ghana must bow it's head in shame over the frustration Ghanaians go through just to get access to the aforementioned requirements. A nationwide National Identification card registration was done somewhere 2009 and till now, most people still do not have access to their ID's. People have to queue up and go through all sort of frustration to get a common National Passport which is supposed to be easily acquired. Same happens with the Driver's license. How can such a country progress when even these easily accessible things are inaccessible yet are requirements for new registration. How then are people supposed to get registered.

Also, the EC was supposed to start the new registration in the University of Cape Coast community at the Main library last week to ensure that most unregistered students could register before the start of examinations but surprisingly, it was shifted to Kwaprow and have rather started registering at the Main library today, 4th May when most students have started writing their exams and are very occupied. Is this a deliberate attempt by the EC to disenfranchise willing and legible Ghanaian voters from registering?

I will plead with the EC to remain diligent and independent in their duties to clear all doubts in the minds of GHANAIANS. Ghana is just one and Ghana is our only homeland and we must ensure a peaceful and a harmonious living in Ghana.
