Accra, May 3, GNA - A Dancer, Isaac Bortey was on Tuesday remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for attempting to commit crime and causing harm to one Robert Awuniti, on April 18 at Teshie in Accra.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge but was remanded into police custody by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on May 18, for trial.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that the complainant Moses Abanga is a Civil Servant while the accused person, Isaac is a 24 year dancer, and while the Victim Robert is 28 and a Shop Attendant.

He said on April 17, at about 2230 hours the complainant went to the Teshie Mobile bus stop with the victim to buy food for themselves. Whiles waiting to be served, the accused person appeared on the scene and aggressively demanded GHc 1.00 from the complainant but he refused.

He told the court that the accused then went closer to the victim, showed him a knife hidden around his waist band and demanded for his tablet phone and threatened to teach him a bitter lesson if he fails to give up the phone.

Police Chief Inspector Adu said the victim insisted that the phone belonged to him and he sees no reason why he should release it to him.

The accused person became more aggressive, attacked and stabbed the victim in the stomach. In the process, the victim tried passing on the tablet to the complainant for safe keeping but as he stretched his hand to give the tablet out, the accused stabbed him again in the ribs.

He said the victim started shouting for help and the accused person took to his heels.

The prosecution told the court that the victim was rushed to the LEKMA Hospital where he was operated upon and has been on admission since then.

On April 24, the accused person was arrested at his house in Teshie Maami by the Teshie Neighbourhood watch committee upon a tip off when he showed up to pick his personal belongings. He admitted the offence in his caution statement.
