Half-Assini pig farmer crushed to death

Half-Assini (W/R), May 3, GNA - A pig farmer in his early thirties met his untimely death on Sunday when he was crushed to death by a vehicle.

The incident occurred around 0700 hours on Sunday, May 1, between New Kabenlah-Suazo and Bokakole along Half-Assini/Takoradi main road.

Superintendent John Dzineku, the Jomoro District Police Commander, confirmed the tragic incident to the GNA, at Half-Assini.

The deceased whose name was given as Clement resided at New Kwabenlah Suazo, near Half-Assini.

He was visiting his farm at the outskirt of the town when the incident happened.

Supt Dzineku said the deceased was walking along the main Half-Assini /Takoradi road when an Opel Zafari knocked him down, and was rushed to the Half-Assini Government Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

He said the body of the deceased had since been deposited at the morgue in the same hospital awaiting autopsy.

Supt Dzineku said the driver of the vehicle, Charles Kwaw, had been arrested and remanded into police custody pending further investigations.
