The Ashanti regional police command has placed a GH¢2,000 bounty on each of six machomen alleged to have been hired by the Ashanti regional communications director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kyei, to attack a member of the party, Baah Acheamfour during a political talk-show programme on Fox FM last week.

A statement signed by the regional police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusif Tanko, said one person identified only as Ahmed who lives at Aboabo, a suburb of Kumasi, is on the run.

It urged the public to volunteer information including pictures of the alleged suspects leading to their arrest.

Background
Acheamfour, believed to be a loyal supporter of deposed National Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko, was contributing to one of the hottest political programmes in Kumasi dubbed: 'Eboborba', hosted by Kwaku Kyeremanteng Nkansah when the thugs entered the studios.

The programme was disrupted and listeners could hear anguished shouts of 'agyei! agyei!' in the background.

Station Manager
According to the Station Manager, Peter Nana Akwasi Sarpong Jnr, Akwasi Kyei arrived at the station earlier to question who allowed Baah Acheamfour to represent the party on the programme.

He was alleged to have forcibly entered the studios where a discussion on President John Dramani Mahama's job creation policy was being discussed. Minutes later, five heavily built men arrived at the station on a motor bike, stormed the studios, disrupted the programme and physically assaulted everybody.

Assault
The host, Nkansah, who was hit on the chest managed to escape while Baah Acheamfour became the target of the hefty blows.

Personnel from the Manhyia Divisional Police later arrived on the scene to provide protection to the station staff but the thugs had then fled.

Baah Acheamfour was given a medical form to visit the hospital and later gave a statement to the police.
