Tema, May 2, GNA - In fulfillment to his 2012 campaign pledge to improve on infrastructure developments in the Tema Central, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Kofi Brako, has inaugurated some development projects for his constituents.

Among the projects is the re development of Prisco Community Park, which serves more than 10,000 residents into an ultra-modern football pitch with underground drainage system backed with reserve water tanks for all year watering.

The GH¢200,000 project, which was executed by Green Grass technology, also has a lightning system and a complete fencing to protect it.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Brako said it has been his dream to transform the park into a modern one where footballers in Tema could gather to keep fit and develop their talents.

The rehabilitation of the park, he said, would benefit the various football and fitness clubs, which need a good pitch for their activities

In a related development, the MP has handed over keys to a sanitary facility for the Community 8 Number 3 Junior High School (JHS), which has four water closet (WC) seats for the female students, three WCs for the male students and three urinal pots for the male students all at a cost of GH¢65,000.

The source of funding, according to the MP, was his share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund and personal savings.

According to him, the facility is eminent due to the bad state of the old facility, which has been labelled a death trap for the students.

The MP assured the school that during the second phase of construction, a reserve water tank to help improve hygiene when the taps are not flowing would be installed.

Mr Kofi Brako also inaugurated a 40- seater Information Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory for the Republic Road cluster of Schools to aid teaching and learning.

The ICT Laboratory is fully connected to a broadband internet package, which is controlled from one source by a tutor.

The MP appealed to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to fence all public schools in the Metropolis to provide security for school facilities, students and teachers.

Similar investment in the improvement of ICT learning in his constituency, he noted, was the provision of computer networking facility and broadband internet for the Community Eleven Complex School and Community 8 Number 3 JHS.

The MP had earlier inaugurated a new Reproductive Health Centre for the Tema General Hospital constructed at a cost of GH¢150,000, which consist of washrooms, offices for senior nurses and vaccination ward.

With the new block available, the hospital would be able to provide antenatal and postnatal care services for more than 150 women simultaneously.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr Brako expressed optimism that the new facility would ease the queue pregnant women go through to receive healthcare.

'Mothers would have the needed privacy with their babies and go home early to join their families.'
