Patrons of the on going limited registration exercise in the Manhyia North constituency were shocked as Ashanti regional Chairman of the opposition NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi drive to one of the centres with about 30 heavily built men and attacked some personalities.
Eye witnesses say, immediately the Npp chairman alighted from his car, in the company of another car full of macho men he went straigjt to the police officials at the center and assaulted them verbally and then noves on to the constituency secretary.
"He slaped the secreatry about four Times and left him for his macho men who continued to beat the young Man mercilessly", one eye witness told ModernGhana.com
After this, he moved towards the MP, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah, who stood with his hands behind him as he had also turned up to monitor events and from nowhere Chairman Wontumi pounced on the MP and slapped him in the process.
The incident became embarassing to the police officers who never thought Chairman Wontumi, could commit such an act and so didn't bother to protect the lawmaker.
The police, party agents and some onlookers around at the time started moving towards the Chairman to question him but he hopped into his car and sped off, leaving his macho men behind.
