Accra, May 1, GNA - CHILD and Associates, a medical facility in Accra dedicated to the well-being of children and families, has upgraded the children's playground at the Special School of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The staff of the medical facility and interns from the Public Health Department of the New York University, USA, helped to paint the walls and playground equipment, cleaned and collected the rubbish and designed some wonderful artistic work for the playground.

The programme was in line with activities in commemoration of 10th Anniversary celebration of CHILD and Associates, slated for July 7.

Dr Juliette M. Tuakli, a Pediatrician and the Chief Executive Officer of the facility, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said she discovered the Special School three years ago and donated some playing equipment to them.

She said this year, she and her team decided to do renovation works at the playground.

She said the school had less public attention as most donations went to the Psychiatric Hospital hence her outfit saw the need to contribute its quota to the development of the school.

Dr Tuakli said the exercise would enable the children to feel part of society and be happy.

Mr Frederick Kudjo Amedzake, the Special Educator at the school, who supervised the work, expressed gratitude to the medical centre and said the renovated playground would help to bring out their God given-talents.

Clothes, bags, and shoes were donated to the special school to climax the event.
