Aputuogya (Ash), April 29. GNA - The limited voters' registration exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) has generally been peaceful and smooth in the Bosomtwe District.

Two days into the registration, there has not been any reported nasty incident or technical glitches.

Madam Ernestina Owusu Banahene, the District Director of the Commission, after visiting a number of the centres to see for herself, how things were going said she was impressed with responsible conduct of everybody.

She expressed optimism that the exercise would be a huge success in the area.

Meanwhile, turn-out, like the day one of the registration, was not encouraging.

At the Esreso East Centre, only seven people had shown up to get their names into the voters' roll as of 1000 hours, when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited. Twenty-one (21) people had registered the previous day.

The situation was not any different at the Chirapatre R/C Primary Centre. Here 18 people had successfully gone through the exercise, four hours into the registration, on the second day.

The Registration Officer, Mr. Victor Kyeremateng, said a total of 30 new voters were registered on the first day.
