Parliamentary aspirant of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Eva Lokko says the country’s energy crisis is persisting because the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) lacks the ideas to address it.

According to her, electricity is a priority for the country and if government is keen on fixing the problem, it would have exploited other alternative energy sources opened to the country such as wind, solar, and water.

Madam Lokko was speaking at Joy FM’s special pre-November 2016 election program, JOY BALLOT BOX held at the Oxford Street Mall in Osu.

“I don’t think as a country we lack answers to our energy crisis because we have done a lot in terms of raising the question”, she said adding Ghanaians need the right people to solve the problem.

Touching on some of the negative impacts of the energy crisis on Ghanaians, Madam Lokko said: “People have lost their jobs, fallen sick and are unable to do things they want because of the absence of electricity”.

She assured Ghanains that when the PPP is voted into office after the November 2016 polls, the PPP flagbearer, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, will fix all the energy distribution lines in the country to ensure that no Ghanaian is deprived of electricity.

The Party will also use as many sources of energy production as possible so that electricity cost become less expensive, she added.

Answering questions on what the NPP will be doing to fix the economy when given the mandate, Mr. Addison said the key priority area for the party would be to address the challenges facing the country’s agricultural sector.

He explained that since everything in the country is in decline, the NPP will ensure that fertilizers are supplied to farmers on time to boost the agricultural sector.

"We will also provide seedlings to farmers, and address the issue of taxes on imported raw materials," he said.

Mr. Addison said the NPP will fight the issue of corruption which he described as a “pervasive” canker.
