Madina To Get Community Day Senior High School - MP

The La-Nkantanang Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region is set to join Assemblies which are benefiting from the community day Senior High School policy. This was disclosed by the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency Alhaji Amadu Sorogho on News and Current Affairs program Ghana Dadwen on Onua 95.1 fm on Friday.

This according to the MP was due to his hard work and intensive lobbying to ensure that his constituency also benefited from the Community Day Senior High School policy. The new Community Senior High School block which is nicknamed E-Block will be situated at Damfa, a community in the La-Nkantanang Municipal Assembly.

President John Dramani Mahama has launched free Senior High School (SHS) education policy with the inauguration of the first Community Day SHS building in the Central Region. The first of the 200 community SHS was named after late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills and thereafter more of such schools have been commissioned by the President in areas like Nkwanta South in the Volta Region, Babiamkor, and Kwaobaah-Nyanoa in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern region, among others with the latest being Derma in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Speaking on his vision for the Madina Constituency on Onua 95.1fm, Alhaji Amadu Sorgho MP for Madina told Bright Kwesi Asempa that land and other documentations have been acquired awaiting sod cutting by the President for commencement of work. Asked when the sod cutting ceremony will be done, the MP did not mention specific timeline but said work on the project shall start before November 7 elections.

“As I speak work will soon start for construction of a community day SHS in my constituency which will be situated at Damfa. The chiefs have already given us the land and the indenture and other necessary documents are in my office” the MP said.

Alhaji Amadu Sorgho stressed that by next academic year, students from the constituency and other surrounding towns seeking admission into the SHS will never suffer stress of getting admission into SHS.
