Accra, April 26, GNA - The Mampong branch of NIB, the fifth branch to be opened in the Ashanti Region and 42nd in the country is to re-enforce the Bank's capacity to serve customers, especially those in the informal sector.

Mr Ernest Mawuli Agbesi Managing Director of the Bank assured the public of prudent management of their funds because the NIB has capable men and women who could manage their funds.

'The NIB has a track record of sound financial management,' he said.

He noted that though the banking sector is experiencing stiff competition in deposit mobilisation and growth in profit in recent times, NIB has been able to exceed industry average for deposits.

He said it is in the light of this that empowering the sector in terms of savings mobilisation and financial support was critical.

Mr Agbesi assured customers that the Bank would open more branches in the near future to serve the needs of customers better.

The NIB was established 53 years ago to propel the industrial growth and development of the country.

Having achieved this mandate by supporting many companies to be on their feet in the areas of manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, construction, its target now is to develop the informal sector of the economy through mobilisation of savings.
