Are you a champion in any field of endeavour? Yours truly is proud to declare with utmost conviction that I embody the spirit of a champion. Some folks hail me as a certified champion regarding writing in my world of teenagers and in the land of my university. Call it self-aggrandisement, but it is a reality! The last book I finished reading very recently is none other than Donald J. Trump's "Think Like a Champion" published in 2009.

It actually enlightened me on the modus operandi (M.O.) of a typical champion. Thus invigorating the spirit of a champion I greatly possess. And influencing the thoughts and actions of our well-meaning youths in Article 201, is my innate mandate and not a personal choice.

So who is a champion? Donald J. Trump, a rare American business magnate, was explicit about the spirit of a champion, "Champions are born and champions are made. One definition of a champion is someone who shows marked superiority...Champions think big. Champions work in a big-time way.

Champions are disciplined." Alright, I always encounter ambitious persons who seem crazy about success or prosperity, but some are somehow lacking in the spirit of a champion. There is no real influential personality in the world today who exudes not the spirit of a champion, to tell the truth. In fact, such global icons emerged successful by virtue of the individual championships par excellence they accomplished.

Aliko Dangote became Nigeria and Africa's richest man, with an estimated fortune of $18.3 billion in 2015, simply because he showed marked superiority in commerce by thinking big and working in a big-time way, being focused and disciplined. Indeed, he is the unsurpassed champion of contemporary African business, that is why he is filthy rich today. Look! Competition is inevitable, so you just need to aim at the best, excellence or distinction - nothing more, nothing less - if you seek to be a true champion in that field of yours. However, you cannot afford to to ignore James Allen's words, "One of the greatest success methods is to be full of radiant energy." I mean, you ought to constantly fuel your level of passion.

Though champions are made and some are born, championship in this case is not a one-off event but rather a repeated action. True champions do not settle for mediocrity, but they focus on winning consistently beyond reasonable doubts. Remember, if you are afraid of winning the competition, then you cannot be a champion - for championship is equivalent to competitive winning.

I hereby pronounce that our Ghanaian society needs a myriad champions to blaze the trail and set the pace in their spheres of influence. Let us dare to be first class champions with our potentials in our skilled areas, and not even runners-up.
