Wisa Didn’t Show His Penis, But A Strap-On Dildo -Defense Counsel

Lawyer for Eugene Ashie, known in showbiz as Wisa Greid, the hip-life artiste who allegedly showed his manhood on stage during a live performance at the Accra International Conference Centre, has told the court that what he showed on stage was a dildo.

Jerry Agbenovor told the court that his client, Wisa, did it to get a higher rating, which is a trend being used in the movie and music industry all over the world. He said this during a cross examination of Chief Inspector Edward Agyei Odame, who is the investigator in the case.

He said: “ I am putting it to you that what the accused person showed was a strap-on dildo with an intention to get a higher rate in the music industry,” but the investigator responded in the negative. The Defense Counsel averred that artistes worldwide show this artificial penis to boost their ratings, adding that Wisa's was not the first time in Ghana.

Quizzing again, he pointed out: “I am putting it to you that an entertainer call Kubolor showed his penis live on television (TV) and his ratings went very high.” Wisa's Lawyer, Jerry Agbenovor, earlier in his defense, said he only showed a dildo and not his genitals at the Accra International Conference Center.

A dildo is an object having the shape and appearance of an erect penis, used in sexual stimulation. The lawyer also asked the investigator whether he has scientific evidence to show that the penis is Wisa's real penis, again, he answered in the negative.

Jerry Agbenovor, whose several attempts to get an adjournment to continue his cross examination was turned down by the court, insisted that the video showed by the prosecution yesterday was edited, but the prosecution instantly disputed it.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Judith Asante, has indicated to the court, presided over by Abena Adjin-Doku, that she intends to call in other witnesses. The Circuit Court has therefore adjourned the case to March 22, 2015.

Screening of the alleged Wisa's penis in court
An Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Abena Adjin-Doku, on Wednesday morning allowed the showing of a video clip implicating hip-life artiste Wisa Greid for exposing his penis to a live audience.

The screening of the alleged exposure, which was done in open court, took about one minute, after which the lawyer for Wisa said it had been edited.

The tendered video clip is the main exhibit from the prosecution implicating Wisa, who was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court in December 2015, after a the video of him showing his penis went viral on social media at a concert organised by Citi FM, dubbed Decemba to Rememba, where he allegedly rubbed his manhood behind a female dancer on stage.

Wisa Greid has already pleaded not guilty to a charge of gross indecency during his first appearance in court on December 30, 2015. He was granted bail in the sum of GH¢8,000 with one surety to be justified.

Facts
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Judith Asante told the court that on December 25, 2015, the Greater Accra Regional Police Command's attention was drawn to a nude video posted on the internet from an unknown source.

She said in the video, Wisa removed his penis while performing live on stage at the AICC on December 24, 2015. He was dancing with a female dancer. She said the police immediately contacted his managers to produce him at the Accra Regional Police Headquarters for investigation, to which they duly obliged.

“Investigations into the case revealed that on December 24, 2015, Airtel Telecommunications Company and Citi FM organised a Christmas concert at the AICC, with the accused person as the Guest Artiste.

“In the course of the programme, the accused person was ushered in to perform on the main stage, together with his female dancer, identified as Monica Kumadeh. “While performing live on stage, the accused person drew close to the female dancer and stood behind her to dance together. Suddenly, he pulled out his penis and started to stroke the bottom of the dancer with his manhood, in the full glare of the audience, without decency,” she said.
