Sunyani, Nov 30, GNA - The Sunyani Circuit Court has remanded four persons for burning a taxicab at Koonim on the Sunyani/Atronie road. They are Musah Moshie, driver, Kofi Anane, farmer, Kwame Kuma, a farmer, and Dramani Moshie all residents at Koonim.

Their pleas were not taken and they will appear on a later date. A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Tetissah Moshie and Yaw Buu.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alex Yartey Tawiah told the court that Stephen Gyamfi, 26, was the driver in charge of the burnt taxicab with registration number BA 62 V. He said on November 8 Stephen Gyamfi, who was driving a taxicab from Sunyani to Atronie knocked down a young man who was crossing the road at Koonim.

The people in the village threatened to attack the driver so he ran to some sympathizers who assisted him to send the victim to the Sunyani government hospital in another vehicle.

DSP Tawiah said Gyamfi later reported the incident to the police. When the police visited the scene in the evening Gyamfi could not drive the taxicab to Sunyani because all the four tyres were deflated and the windscreen smashed by unknown persons. He went to the village the following morning but found the vehicle burnt beyond repairs and reported the incident to the police who arrested the four persons.
