Accra, Feb. 14, GNA - Mr Ghassan Antoine Yared, the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of Peru in Ghana has promised to woo the business community in Peru to establish strategic businesses here in Ghana and vice versa.

'My desire and intention primarily is to work with a keen and serious interest to develop new ventures and I intend to develop strategies that will help forge strong bilateral relations between Peru and Ghana, both diplomatically and commercially, 'he said.

He was speaking at a reception held in his honour in Accra on Friday.

He said he would provide assistance to Peruvian nationals, promote Peru in the trade, culture and tourism sectors and also help to promote Ghanaian products on the Peruvian market.

He said the role of international relations among countries could not be overemphasized, looking at the way the two countries were working together in diverse areas for the mutual benefit of all.

He said Ghana does not currently have any diplomatic or consular representation in Peru saying this was the time for the two countries to work persistently to create a balance.

He said the two countries have similarities coupled with the economic dynamism of the South American region and opportunities that could be shared in the areas of agriculture, tourism, cultural exchanges, commerce, and gastronomy.

The role of the Honorary Consul was to work cooperatively with the Chargé d'affaires of the Republic of Peru to strengthen and deepen the relations between Ghana and Peru.
