To forestall the recurrence of the raid at the national headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) last year, the China chapter of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated a set of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and accessories to the party.

In November 2015, some persons said to be in military uniforms stormed the NPP headquarters, which is located at Asylum Down in Accra under the cover of darkness and destroyed items such as computers.

Eleven persons were later arrested in connection with the incident and arraigned before court but were later granted bail.

The NPP believes the raid was state sponsored.
This was what informed the decision of the China chapter of the NPP to donate 24 cameras and accompanying Digital Video Recording (DVR) machines and their cables for the installation.

Presenting the items to leadership of the party at a short ceremony at the NPP's Asylum Down national headquarters, chairman of the China Chapter, Sugri Inusah, said they decided to help the party to safeguard the place ahead of the 2016 general elections.

.
“We need to safeguard all the information and the data systems that we have at the headquarters in order for them not to end up in wrong hands; this will help secure us the victory that we so much desire,” he said.

He was of the belief that the NPP would win the 2016 general elections owing to the hardship that the current Mahama administration has imposed on Ghanaians.

The NPP and its followers, including Ghanaians who are fed up with President Mahama and his incompetent NDC administration, must be vigilant on the day of the elections, he added.

Flagbearer of party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who was at the headquarters at the time of the presentation, thanked members of the China chapter of the NPP for their thoughtfulness and kind gesture on behalf of acting National Chairman, Freddie Blay and other national executives.

He expressed hope that the installation of the CCTV cameras at both the NPP headquarters and the annex would help boost security at the place.

Present were Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Chairman of Council of Elders, C.K Tedam, Campaign Manager, Peter Mac Manu, acting General Secretary and National Organiser, John Boadu and National Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah.

Chairman of the China chapter was also accompanied by his Vice chairman, Gyawu Tawiah, Communications Director, Pat Thomas Abbey, Treasurer, Adinkra Yeboah, Youth Organiser, Clement Atuahene Amponsah aka Kasa and Eric Godbless Boakye, a member of the chapter.
