Joy News has learnt an MP (name withheld) was instrumental in providing information that led to the arrest of a young man who has confessed to killing the Abuakwa North MP, JB Danquah Adu.

Joy News Parliamentary correspondent Elton John Brobbey reported, the MP received the information from a man who has a relationship with the confessed killer.

The man had spent some time with the confessed killer who plotted the killing of an MP while they were both behind bars.

The man was unaware of who the target was until news broke that the Abuakwa North MP had been stabbed to death Tuesday dawn.

He then moved to tip-off an MP he knew who then relayed the information to the police.

The tip-off sent the BNI, police investigators on a man-hunt for the suspected killer. The search lasted through Thursday dawn. The suspect was arrested in the morning.

‘We are glad’, Deputy Minority leader Dominic Ntiwul told Elton John Brobbey. He said news of an arrest and a confession from the suspect “has sent some bit of relief to us”.

An MP who heard the news “nearly jumped through the roof,” the NPP leader expressed a sense of relief.

The NPP had pleaded with the Ghana Police Service to deal swiftly with the case of the murder of JB Danquah Adu.

The killing of the MP has raised questions about the level of security provided parliamentarians who by law are to have the same level of protection granted High Court judges.
