The Electoral Commission (EC) has rubbished concerns by the major opposition political parties that it is not prepared to conduct elections in November this year.

The EC also says claims it is not collaborating with political parties ahead of the general elections were false.

“The fact that you may not hear us often in the news in terms of what we are doing doesn’t necessary mean that we are not doing much”, EC Public Relations Officer, Sylvia Annor, told Joy News.

Political parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Convention People's Party (CPP) and People's National Convention (PNC) last week questioned the EC readiness for the crucial polls on November 7.

However, Sylvia Annor said the opposition parties have an erroneous impression about the how EC works.

“We are preparing feverishly for the 2016 election and we believe that we are on track as far as the laws are concerned,” she said.
