The People’s National Convention (PNC) has heavily condemned the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for poaching their members.

Two persons who were leading the PNC’s efforts in some parts of this country have been appointed by the President to serve under the NDC.

President John Dramani Mahama as part of his cabinet reshuffle has replaced the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna with a defected member of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Abdallah Abubakari while a former PNC Youth Organiser has also been appointed as a deputy chief of staff at the presidency.

The Chairman of the PNC who was saddened by the development told Citi Eyewitness News host , Richard Dela Sky that the NDC’s decision is a calculated attempt to reduce the PNC’s strength especially in the Walewale constituency.

According to him, both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) “are suffering in terms of human resource and have looked into the PNC to support the building up of their government.”

“It is a cheap politic on the part of the NDC to look at a veritable candidate and to say ,‘look with this candidate we are about 70 percent to winning the seat and we have 30 percent work to do so they will go and try to poach our parliamentary candidate to their sid’ and in this instance, he accepted their call and he has moved into their camp but we will assure the NDC, if it is the seat they want, they have a damping challenge because the PNC will emerge stronger in Walewale and we are confident we will win the Walewale constituency.”

He further pointed out that the NDC’s decision contravenes its constitution.

“…In this particular instance contrary to the NDC constitution which requires a member to contest for a position only when you are in active service in the unit for at least four years.

“Our 2012 parliamentary candidate for Walewale would not have met that qualification. Our understanding was that even while he was outside the country, he filed his nomination and he was accepted and today he has been nominated as Minister designate,” Mornah complained.
