Frederick Opare-Ansah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Suhum, officially opened Eastern Springs Mineral Water Company Limited on Monday to help create employment and provide quality drinking water.

According to Opare-Ansah, unemployment in the constituency was high and after a series of discussions with the board of directors of Hasna Hospitalities, they decided to set up the water factory in Suhum.

He said he sited the factory at Kpankpan Junction, Suhum to thank the people of Suhum for supporting him over the years in his political career and hoped they will support him once more this year.

The company at the onset employed 50 workers who are all residents of Suhum, and it is expected that when the company finally operates at full capacity, it will employ over 500 people.

The occasion was graced by the Suhumhene Osaberima Ayeh Kofi I as well as the queen mother of Suhum, Nana Yaa Sakyibea.

Other dignitaries present were the NPP parliamentary candidate for Akropong Nana Ama Dokua, Hon Kuragu, a former MP, Nana Addo the CEO of Major Water in Suhum.

Also present was the CEO of Agya Nie Bitters, a company in Suhum, CEO of My Joy Water Company and members of the clergy in Suhum as well as Muslim leaders in Suhum.

CEO of Major Water, Nana Addo, welcomed him into the sachet water business in Suhum and wished him well while the Omanhene of Suhum Osaberima Ayeh Kofi I, also commended him for taking the bold initiative to help address the unemployment situation in Suhum.

The company plans to start producing bottled water before the end of the year, as well as start the production of beverages early next year.
