Ho Poly Female Student Killed

Students, staff and residents in and around the Ho Polytechnic in the Volta Regional capital are in a state of shock and mourning over the gruesome death of a female student of the institution.

The student, who is said to be in her early 20s, is believed to have been killed by unknown assailant in one of the private hostels near the polytechnic.

Hostel mates of Naomi Kpodzro, a first-year HND Fashion student, found her body in a pool of blood at dawn on Monday outside the hostel – Divine Star Hostel.

Eyewitnesses said the body of the fresher was found with multiple wounds on her body, including her chest, suspected to have been caused by stabbing with a sharp object.

An assistant registrar of the polytechnic in-charge of Public Relations, Isaac Meyir, who confirmed the incident to the media, said the young lady was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, disclosed that serious investigations had commenced into the incident.

Though it is unclear what might have led to the killing, information gathered from anonymous sources at the hostel indicates that the incident might be a result of a 'jilted relationship’ with the unknown perpetrator.
