A seminar to discuss insights into electronic payments in the banking and finance industry has ended in Accra.

It was organized by Veneka, a payments technology company in partnership with IT firm Tieto.

The event was attended by leading bankers who shared latest payment solutions, best practices and industry trends in the country.

Evans Musodza, Managing Director of Veneka, at a media briefing, said the company has successfully rolled out what he called 'payment solutions in Ghana, as well as more than 30 countries in Africa.'

He said agency banking and its roadmap towards a more inclusive financial system was discussed at length, saying 'on the African continent, a large population remains unbanked due to high costs and inadequate infrastructure.

'Veneka has gained valuable knowledge and extensive experience to provide relevant solutions to the African financial institution,' Mr. Musodza said, adding 'we are determined to be part of Ghana's effort of ensuring that 60 percent of its population that is unbanked has access to banking services at affordable rates.'

He said Veneka will also collaborate with the financial sector to resolve trends affecting the sector and said efforts towards the cashless economy and the usage of cards, mobile banking, e-commerce, a growing number of non-bank offerings, as well as premium banking offerings were steps being taken in the right direction.

He said that 'our solutions can service a diverse customer base leveraging a single payment platform.'

'Veneka is entrenched in the Ghanaian market and understand the complexities of the customer base. Our years of experience and encounters with the intricacies of the country's banking and payments technology markets have placed us in a great position to offer relevant payments solutions in the future,' he said.

Igor Boiko, a Sales Executive of Tieto, which is partnering Veneka, said they have the capacity to provide world-class services for the financial sector.

'Tieto is committed to leveraging on its research and development capabilities to generate distinctive value through new and improved products and innosvative ways.'
