Bibiani, Nov. 30, GNA - The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly has for the third time failed to break the stalemate over the election of its Presiding Member (PM).

None of the two contestants, Mr. Asare Manu, and Mr.Thomas Nsiah, could garner enough votes to meet the mandatory two-thirds majority threshold-highlighting the political division of the Assembly.

To be elected as PM, the candidate would need to receive36 votes of the 53-member Assembly, but both of them fell short of this.

Mr. Manu consistently held on to the backing of 27 members during three rounds of voting, while Mr. Nsiah maintained the loyal support of 24 of the assembly members.

With neither of the two men and their backers prepared to climb down from their entrenched positions, the Assembly was forced to postpone the election.
