Learn To Accept Criticisms – Konadu Tells Mahama

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has advised President John Mahama to learn to accommodate criticisms.

According to her, it is the responsibility of people in leadership to pick and act on the feedback they receive from their followers.

In an apparent response to President Mahama on his claim that the NPP’s vice presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia does not have the right to criticize him because he has never held the office of the president, the outspoken first lady said leaders who do not accept criticisms do not succeed.

“If you are a leader, you learn to accept criticisms. You cannot say that because somebody has not been president before they cannot criticise you.

“When you are charting a path, you don’t see what is behind you so you listen to what those monitoring tell you," Mrs. Rawlings told supporters of her National Democratic Party (NDP) in the Volta region.

She added that the current parliament has supervised the worst form of illegalities in the history of the country.

President Mahama, weeks ago, expressed anger over criticisms against his government by Dr. Bawumia , saying he is not fit to criticise him.

“Did you hear Bawumia say incompetent Mahama? You’ve never held any responsibility anywhere near the presidency before; you don’t know what it is like to be President.

"I’ll take that word from Kufuor or from Rawlings because they’ve been there before. All of you guys [NPP critics] have never ever come near the presidency. [Do] you know what it takes to be a President? And you stand and say incompetent Mahama administration,” Mahama fumed at a rally in Trade Fair in Accra.
