COP21: An Open letter To The Delegates
30.11.2015 LISTEN

Dear delegate,

As you have gathered in Paris you know all too well the importance of the issue that has brought you all together in one place. Climate change is threatening to us us like never before. Before and during the Rio summit in 1992 we talked about leaving a better world behind for generations yet unborn. Today it is not about saving the planet for our grandchildren, we need to save it for ourselves now. We can longer afford to procrastinate.

We have come from different places of the planet, we speak different languages, and represent different people but we all have one thing in common; This is our home. We represent different nations and flags but a flag is only a piece of cloth with different colors on it and nothing more. This should be no time for nationalistic sentiments. We are in this sinking boat together, if we let it hit rock bottom none of our flags will be of much importance anymore.

We are highly capable of mitigating this common threat. We have proven this several times with science and technology. The only thing left is the political will to put every measure we have deviced into practice. We trust that you would do the right thing as representatives of the inhabitants of earth. Thank you.

Agomo Atambire.
