Accra, Nov. 28, GNA - Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Communications says Government has identified Information Communication Technology (ICT) as key to the acceleration of the country's socio-economic growth.

He said for this reason, government has adopted ICT oriented policies for development, which resolves around the development and enhancement of the nations human resource base, the continues rejuvenation of the private sector and the entrenchment of good governance.

Dr Omane Boamah was speaking at the opening and launch of Tigo Digital Centre at the Free Zones enclave in Tema in the Greater Accra.

The centre would host 120 customer service personnel performing multiple such as inbound and outbound voice call and a range of superior digital customer services.

He said the centre falls directly in line with the objective of President John Dramani Mahama to prioritise ICT as it roll out several strategic initiatives focused on human capital development.

Dr Omane Boamah said the Ministry of Communication have secured partnership with its various development partners including the World Bank in implementing it ICT strategy by updating ICT legislation, regulation and policies.

He said the Ministry and its affiliated agencies have closely been monitoring the activities of all players within the communication sector and are aware of Tigo Ghana exploits over recent years, which include the introduction of innovative products and services to meet the demands of subscribers.

Ms Rossi Motman, Chief Executive Officer of Tigo Ghana reiterated the company's commitment to be a leader in technology and the extensive measures taken to provide customers with easy access to relevant information on-the-go through a number of digital communications channels.

She said was confident that the centre would boost the quality of service Tigo customers receive, enhance the way they experience Tigo products and services and ultimately foster deep loyalty and ambassadors hip for the Tigo brand.

Ms Motman explained that in Tigo bids to satisfy its valued customers with its digital lifestyle experience, the company organised an experiential digital for its customers, which brought together key partners in the digital space (Julia, Microsoft) to educate Ghanaians about the benefits of the Internet.

"The fair sought to train customers to gain useful insights into the functional use of smartphones applications, learn best practices and other digital inclined skills.

She said with Tigo Ghana's commitment to lead technology and develop solutions to serve customers better: "We have upgraded our channels to provide customers with easy access to all of their communication needs on-the-go."
