NDC Interrogate 'No' votes against Mahama - Baako advises NDC
NOV 28, 2015 LISTEN

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper Kweku Baako Jnr has advised the National Democratic Congress to interrogate over 60,000 ‘No’ votes against President John Mahama in the party’s November 21.

“For over 60,000 of its own supporters to vote against the President when he contested alone, the party must do some interrogation,” Baako said Saturday on Newsfile, the news analysis program on Joy News channel on Multi TV, Saturday.

President Mahama received an overwhelming endorsement at the presidential primary, having polled 1,199,118 'Yes' votes representing 95.10%.

However, 61,836 voted 'No' representing 4.90% of total votes in elections conducted at 265 out of 275 constituencies.

Kwaku Baako believes the outcome of the presidential primaries must be treated lightly by the NDC.

However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who was also on the show rebuffed Mr Baako’s advise.

According to him, the suggestion that the 4.9% dissenting votes show the President’s unpopularity in the party is misinformed.

“Nobody went into this election with the thinking that the President would obtain 100%. This didn’t even happen in Iraq under Sadam Husein. You can’t have a situation where somebody goes into elections and the expectation is that everybody would agree,” he said.
