The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) will open nominations for presidential and parliamentary aspirants on 1st December.

The party is expected to have a flagbearer in –election year- Jaunaury 2016 and plunge into campaigning.

The recently elected national executives led by Professor Edmund Delle will be hoping to increase the party’s political visibility in parliament.

CPP has no representation in parliament.
Part of the party's strategy to garner support is to work with the PNC at the constituency levels as was done during the Talensi bye-election.

“The CPP and the PNC are one,” said Nkrumah, whose party is not fielding a candidate for the bye-election.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) launched a joint campaign at Yameriga, hometown of the PNC’s candidate, Dr. Michael Wombeogo Namalteng aimed at annexing the parliamentary seat for the PNC in the July 7 by-election in the Talensi constituency.

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) eventually won the seat.

The only Member of Parliament for the CPP after the 2008 elections, Samia Nkrumah lost her Jomoro seat in 2012 to the current minister of energy, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah.

Samia Nkrumah later became chairperson of the CPP and backed Edmund Delle to take over her job.

The immediate past Chairperson of the Party, Madam Samia Yaba Nkrumah has revealed her intentions to contest the 2016 presidential primaries and is tipped to win.

2012 Presidential candidate Dr Michael Abu Sakara Foster and perennial contestant lawyer Bright Akwetey are believed to be eye the slot.

Immediate Past General Secretary of the Party, Mr.Ivor Kobina Greenstreet is likely to enter the race.

Sources close to the party say details about filing fees will be communicated next week. Congress to elect the flag bearer of the Party is expected to be held in mid January.

The CPP held their last congress to elect their National executives in Sunyani on 19th September.
