The recent raid at the headquarters of the opposition New Patriotic Party was sponsored by the state, the party has concluded after its own investigation into the matter.
Addressing the media in Accra Friday, Freddy Blay Ag. National Chairman, NPP, was emphatic: “The NPP is in no doubt that the attack on our offices was conducted by the State, specifically, using certain rogue elements within the National Security set up”.
At least 11 people are standing trial for unlawfully entering and causing damage at the headquarters.
The NPP says raid was aimed at causing "a scene of bloodbath" at the headquarters just to score a political point.
The party has strongly condemned the action, saying it is an attack on Ghana’s democracy.
“The red and black attire you see us wearing today depicts the mood of the Party. We are enraged. We are outraged. This is an alarming and dismaying moment for Ghana’s democracy. We see very dark clouds ahead for our democracy.”
