AN ULTRA modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center has been opened at the Ashanti New Town Community Center to enhance the ICT knowledge of students in Manhyia South Constituency.

The computer center, which was inaugurated on Monday, amid pomp and pageantry, is fully furnished with brand new computers and its accessories as well as air conditions, just to mention a few.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka 'Napo', who is noted for his strong passion for education, is the brain behind the center.

The Manhyia South Law Maker also opened a modern library, fully stuffed with accessories of books to help students in the area to study, which is also located in the Ashanti New Town Community Center, the same day.

Speaking with DAILY GUIDE, Napo said he used part of the MPs Common Fund and GetFund as well as support from GIFEC to establish the ICT center.

He stated that he established the ICT center and library to give students in the constituency the opportunity to study after school and weekends, urging the youth in the area to make good use of the facilities.

The Manhyia South MP stated that his motivation for setting up the library and the ICT center is to empower the youth of Manhyia South Constituency to grow and become influential people.

He pointed out that the ICT center could be used by schools in the area which don't have their own ICT lab.

Napo had earlier presented exercise books to the final year students of the various Junior High Schools (JHS) in his constituency to facilitate their studies towards their final examinations.

The schools include Afia Kobi MA JHS, Konadu Yiadom Basic JHS, St. Annes Anglican JHS, Odumase Extension Basic JHS, Dichemso MA JHS A and B, Ave Maria RC JHS, St. Louis Demo JHS and K.O. Methodist JHS A and B.
