From low-calorie healthy meals to indulgent naughtiness, Ghanaians would have an opportunity to enjoy Accra’s three tastiest days at the first edition of the Vittles food festival between 18 and 20 December, at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

Vittles 2015 in association with The Hunger Project-Ghana, is set to feature food from the finest eateries based within the Accra-Tema metropolis, against a backdrop of live music and food-related entertainment.

Leroy Ankrah, Principal Consultant at Diffusion Ltd, organisers of the event, says that they were inspired to put together an event that an entire family could enjoy, regardless of their ages or gender.

“We found that with most Ghanaians, aside from attending social or family events, they would probably eat out with friends or family when it comes to doing something fun. It would definitely be more fun could to host the best eateries in one location,” Leroy stated.

Leroy Ankrah explains that the ‘something for everyone’ concept is the basis for creating various sections and sub-events during the three-day event, such as the Beer Garden, Cooking Competition, Food Challenges, Cooking School and Children’s Zone.

“We also recognize the fact that, even within the metropolis, several Ghanaians are suffering from the effects of hunger and poverty, and we do not intend to leave them also out,” he explains.

He added that to this end, Diffusion Ltd has signed a very important partnership to use the event to also raise awareness and funding in support of The Hunger Project-Ghana; a charity organization that is focused in the alleviation of these challenges.

Mr. Samuel Afrane, Country Director of The Hunger Project–Ghana expressed his gladness about the partnership and opportunities it raises for their organiastion.

“Our aim is empowering rural communities to end their own hunger and poverty while ensuring that women, men and children lead a healthy, productive, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity,” he explained.

‘Foodies’ from the local and international community would be able to interact with top chefs, cooks and bakers in the country, to sample meals and learn new recipes, which they can immediately try out upon visiting the Vendor’s Market for well-priced ingredients and other products.

The event is being partnered by The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana, who are currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of their iconic, curvy glass bottle nicknamed ‘Ohemaa’.

Event patrons would receive a free bottle of the award-winning beverage and have the opportunity to partake in souvenirs.
