The Member of Parliament for Kade in the Eastern Region says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will soon unveil a workable solution to the intense power crisis in its manifesto.

Speaking on Adom FM’s political talk show programme ‘Dwaso Nsem’, Ofosu Asamoah revealed that the manifesto will be out when the NPP’s Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo returns from his trip to the US.

“We are coming out with our manifesto, it will be in it; when it comes to energy, this is what we will do, when it comes to education, this is what we will do. Everything will be in it,” he said.

His comments were in reaction to claims by the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper; Kwesi Pratt Jnr. that the NPP has been interested in only criticising and not proposing solutions.

“To be honest with you, apart from the complaints about ‘dumsor- dumsor,’ what solutions have you proposed? I haven’t heard any solutions from the NPP,” he said.

A four-year periodic darkness in the country has collapsed many businesses and industries.

For some days now, the situation has worsened, plunging many parts of the capital and other parts of the country into darkness.

The government has since 2012 been promising to solve the problem.

The Ghana Gas Company and the power Ministry have been shifting blames about the worsening power crisis.

An emergency power barge that was procured from Turkey to add to the country’s electricity supply is yet to arrive on the shores of Ghana.

Kwasi Pratt believes that “the leaders in this country have taken us for granted.”

“All Ghanaians cannot be ministers of power and that is why we have government and the ministry so they should solve the problem,” he said.

But according to Ofoso Asamoah, the NPP has proposed several solutions in the past but the government did not listen.

“The NPP cannot solve the power crisis while it is in opposition. We have proposed many solutions in the past, what came out of those?” he quizzed.

The NPP MP urged his party members to solve the internal party issues and focus on winning power in 2016.

“That is why I think that the NPP being an alternative government, we should put our house together to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of Ghanaians,” he urged his party members.
