GLICO General, a leading insurance company in the country and subsidiary of GLICO Group, on Wednesday officially launched its 10th anniversary celebration at a brief but colorful ceremony in Accra.

Activities lined up for the year-long celebration, which is expected to be climaxed in November 2016, include a thanksgiving service, dinner ball, brokers' forum, among others.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of GLICO General, Yaw Ofori Kuragu said his outfit will also launch a product during the celebration as an anniversary gift to its clients.

He noted that GLICO General started full operations with eight people but currently has a workforce of about 84 staff.

According to him, 'All GLICO General has aimed to achieve in the past years of existence has been and continues to be providing excellent services to our stakeholders and also living by our promise, we cushion you for life.'

Executive Chairman of GLICO Group, Kwame Achampong-Kyei, in a keynote address, indicated that GLICO General started from humble beginnings in 2005 after the parent company decided to establish a non-life insurance firm in the country to set the pace.

Mr. Achampong-Kyei revealed that 'this success story started humbly in 2005 when, as stakeholders of a specialist life insurance company, we took a bold decision to reserve an industry trend and set the pace as the first insurance company to establish a non-life insurance company.'

According to him, GLICO General has steadily expanded its operations to all regions of the country and has gained a significant share of the market.

'GLICO General's 10 years of successful business operation is a milestone worth commemorating.'

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of National Insurance Commission (NIC), Lydia Lariba Bawa, in a statement, praised GLICO Group for its sterling performance over the years.

According to her, 'The GLICO Group is one of the indigenous Ghanaian insurance companies that has persevered, thrived and excelled over the years.'
