Why They Get Ahead Of Us

Few weeks ago, Ghana went agog with news that a footballer has splashed US$3 million to build himself a mansion. Before that we were shown the garage of the same footballer parked full with posh, ultra-expensive cars and jeeps.

No, we do not begrudge people their money. And we believe that people are perfectly entitled to spend their money whichever way they fancy.

We just would like to point out that since we make it a habit to complain about how far behind the other races we are, we should highlight what other people who are blessed did with their own money.

Johan Cruff is without a doubt the greatest Dutch footballer ever. He plied his craft long before football became such a gigantic moneyed game.

Cruff is celebrated in his native country not only because of his football prowess, he is also a renowned philanthropist. His Johan Cruff Foundation (JCF) sponsored many Football Academies among other things.

Maybe we also can start to learn from other people, so that those that are richly blessed among us will remember their roots, and do their best to uplift the lest-fortunate in society.

Putting smiles on the faces of less-fortunate children should give us better pleasure than riding in big limousine on unmotorable roads.
