President of the Evangelical Presbyterian University College in Ho , Rev Dr Cyril GK Fayose, has called on government to assist private universities and institutions with grants, GETFunds projects and others.

According to Rev Fayose, private institutions also pay taxes and hence must supported just like public tertiary institutions.

“If we are such viable collaborators, then government must support us and extend the GEFund projects, students loans,” he said.

Rev Dr Fayose said this at the 9th Matriculation ceremony of the EP University College in Ho.

According to him, institutions owned by churches are not in for the money but only helping the society and therefore need all the help they can to develop.

Rev Dr Fayose also called on the matriculating students to eschew laziness and other negative tendencies that would prevent them from getting the best out of their university education.

He informed them that the semester system operated by the university was very challenging and required consistent work, regular attendance to lectures and the completion of all continuous assessment given to them.

The formal induction into the university would also offer the students unique opportunity to be recognized as future alumni of the school and enable them enjoy all the privileges offered by the school.

The President of the university college urged the students to put academic work first in all their priorities and strive to set high academic and moral standards for themselves.

Out of the 451 applications received by the university, 300 applicants have been admitted to pursue various programs.

Some of the applicants who applied for levels 100, 200 and 300 were also given admissions to the university college.
