The elected parliamentary candidate for the Ningo-Prampram constituency Sam George has stated that he has no expectation of being appointed a minister, if he is elected an MP in the 2016 general elections.

“I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that President Mahama would win the 2016 election, I have absolutely no doubt that Sam George will win the Ningo-Prampram for the NDC but I have no expectations of being made a minister,” George told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg, Tuesday on Starr 103.5FM.

The 30-year-old added: “Going to Parliament is not a prerequisite of being made a minister, there are people today who are ministers without going through parliament…so that is not a consideration, my primary consideration is serving my people.”

George won the Ningo-Prampram parliamentary contest of the ruling National Democratic Congress on Sunday defeating incumbent and veteran politician E.T Mensah who has represented the constituency since 1996.

The presidential staffer and controversial young politician won the polls with 4,910 votes representing 63.5% as against the former Sports minister’s 2,831 representing 36.5% of total votes cast.

The internal poll was marred by chaos on Saturday following allegations of attacks by both camps, forcing the elections to be suspended.
