Chief Sup. Ebenezer Ampofo, the divisional police commander of the Akyem Oda Police division has charged the youth of Ghana to put themselves together and be agents of peace and development rather than agents of destruction.

The police chief added that it is about time youth eschew the old thinking of their communities which include unnecessary fightings and put themselves together in groups and work towards developing their communities. ''When you come together like this, it streghthens the bond of unity amongst you and throws unnecessary rancour to the dock'' he added.

Chief Sup. Ampofo was speaking to representatives of the Akyem Oda Concern Citizens' Association (AKOCCA) when they called on him at his office to present an invitation card to him to invite him to their AKOCCA PRAISE 2015 scheduled to take place this Saturday 28th November, 2015.

The group also used the opportunity to satisfy the provisions of the Public Order Act 1994(Act 419) which entreats every person or group of persons to give the police a notification before organising any public event. Chief sup. Ampofo accepted the group's invitation and promised them of maximum security during the event.

Akyem Oda Concern Citizens' Association, a group which started as a social media group has become very formidable within the Birim Central Municipalty with its membership been people, mostly youth who hail from or reside in and around Akyem Oda.

September this year, the group petitioned the Birim Central Municipal Assembly over a weak steal bridge on the Birim River. The group has since been making constant follow ups on the issue.

To achieve its core aim of fostering peace and unity among the youth of Oda, the group has put together several programs that will always bring the youth under one umbrella. One of such programs is the AKOCCA PRAISE 2015 which is bringing together some renowned gospel musicians in the country such as Nicholas Omaane Acheampong the Zaphenath Panea man, Ernest Opoku Jnr, Agnes Opoku Agyeman, Selina Boateng, Patience Nyarko, Gifty Osei among others to perform on the same stage at Akyem Oda.

The program is expected to commence at exactly 4:00pm on the day and ends at 10:00pm and expecting to bring together not less than 800 youth from across the municipality and beyond.
