Global food manufacturer, United Biscuit, producers of Mcvities and other biscuit products has maintained its committed to the wellbeing of their wholesalers and distributors in Ghana.

The company has therefore announced series of packages including insurance cover for its wholesalers as part of measures to expand their businesses.

Territory Sales Manager for Ghana, Patrick Osei Adusah disclosed this to Joy Business on the sidelines of a recognition dinner programme organized to honour the top performing wholesale customers of the McVities biscuits at the Airport View hotel in Accra.

The British food manufacturing giant has more than 200 years experience of baking biscuits which was started by two Scottish family businesses. McVities, the international flagship for UB has been in Ghana for the past 35 years.

McVitie’s Biscuits portfolio found in the Ghanaian market includes, Original Digestive, Original McVities All Butter Shortbread, Rich Tea, Jacobs Cream Crackers, Hobnobs and McVitie’s Bourbon.

The maiden dinner was attended by officials of United Biscuits from the overseas and senior management of Far East Mercantile Ghana Limited, the sole accredited distributor in Ghana. It was an opportunity to learn at first hand concerns of their key customers in the wholesale chain and to share their business strategy going into the next year.

Patrick Osei Adusah was optimistic the agreed strategy will motivate the wholesalers to double their efforts to achieve more for the company and their businesses.

With the economic challenges impacting negatively on businesses in Ghana, the Regional Manager, West Africa for United Biscuits International, Hassan Saad said UBI practices a supportive pricing strategy to keep the products within reach of the average Ghanaians.

Mr. Hassan Saad said what the company has done is to “support the Ghanaian Consumers to retain her/his standards of snacking and taste; it would be a shame if the Average Ghanaian who is under financial pressure would not be able to enjoy her/his favourite biscuit on his snacking time. It’s her/his right to enjoy her/his break time with the quality biscuit s/he loves.”

The Company promised to continue with this annual event to sustain the engagement with their wholesaler customers to ensure McVitie’s remain the preferred biscuit brand in the country for all socio economic classes across age brackets

Music star, Akosua Agyapong was there to support the programme treating attendees to a lovely pieces of music around the McVitie’s biscuits.
